Newtown’s Legislative Council has unanimously backed drafting a resolution calling for a moratorium on Flock license plate cameras. Council members raised concerns about privacy, data sharing and the reach of the nationwide camera network. The council cannot directly remove the cameras, but could ask the Board of Selectmen to cancel the contract or block future funding. The matter is expected to return at the council’s next meeting.
