A new report shows that Connecticut has lost nearly 80% of its dairy farms over the past 30 years, dropping from more than 400 operations in the late 1990s to about 80 today. Farmers say low milk prices and high production costs are forcing many to diversify or leave dairy farming altogether. Some are turning to beef cattle, compost, ice cream and other products to keep their farms operating.
