A New Milford man has pleaded guilty to a tax evasion charge. 50-year old William Anderson owns several companies in the region including landscaping and excavation businesses. Anderson failed to pay more than $1.2 million in federal income taxes for the 2007 through 2014 tax years. He did that by using business income to buy cashier's checks to keep the income out of his accounts. Anderson is scheduled to be sentenced in January and faces up to 5 years in prison. He's agreed to cooperate with the IRS to pay all outstanding taxes, interest and penalties.
